Annealing

Anealing is a heat treatment in which a material is altered by heating is above critical temperature, maintaining a suitable temperature, and then cooling.

Annealing is used to induce ductility, soften material, relieve internal stresses, refine the structure by making it homogeneous.

Steps for Annealing

  1. Laminations are laser cut.
  2. Laminations are deburred.
  3. Parts go through a standard production cycle stress relief annealing at a specified temperature.
  4. Parts are then cooled for a set time frame.

Stress Relief

When steel is punched or stamped, there is usually a great deal of stress on the steel. Although laser cutting does not cause as much stress to the lamination as punching or stamping, many of our customers still have their laminations annealed for stress relief.
